Chop Candy By Michael Beauclerc
“Chop Candy” is a more advanced version of our original “Accent and Tap” exercise. Accented strokes are loud and played at a full height. Tap strokes are quiet and played at a very low height. “Chop Candy” is a two-height exercise for drummers to practice transitions from one to another. Each pattern is two measures long, and performed with the right hand only, repeated, and then again with the left. Each instrument plays a different pattern from one another to create a fun groove for the both drummers and an audience. Mallets play a “C” major scale in thirds. Note heads in brackets are performed the first time only. This exercise comes with a play along video for snare, tenor, and mallets at both full speed and 75% speed.
